geek out your face: vol. 1

Here it is. I compile a short list of links hopefully once a week. You geek out. Volume 1.

Video Unboxing: Fake iPhone from China.
The body is similar, the intro screen has the same wallpaper, but beyond that, it's no better than a $49 Nokia with a touch screen. If you watch closely, you can see that they've printed on the back that it's illegal to use the iPhone name and Apple logo, right below the iPhone name and Apple logo. (video below)

Microsoft Surface: A big ass table computer
First a rip-off, now a parody. We're just cutting everyone off at the knees now.

Rubik's Cube Solver
The most retro of cheat codes.

Steampunk gallery via Wired
Speaking of retro, how's retro-futuristic? Wired has a nice gallery of all things steampunk, which they describe as so:
The ideas behind the steampunk sci-fi subgenre have been around since Jules Verne and H.G. Wells, but it was given its moniker in the late '80s as a speculative-fiction genre, alongside cyberpunk, ribofunk and splatterpunk. While the others peer 15 minutes into the future, steampunk envisions a future that has collapsed onto a re-imagined Victorian past. Steam and clockworks replace silicon logic, brass and copper stand in for titanium and plastic, and airships replace spaceships.

Look for more of that from me.

Top Ten Bizarre Japanese Soft Drinks
Long day in the sun? Quench your thirst with an ice-cold can of Coolpis. Your children thirsty? Give them a tall glass of Kidsbeer. Work getting you down? Take a break with a nice, uplifting Deepresso.

What's a link list without youtube videos?

Hillary Clinton, The Sopranos and Celine Dion
Hillary Clinton spoofed the series finale of The Sopranos to launch a month-long search for a campaign song. Out of a plethora of musical whimsy the world has never before seen including U2, Smashmouth (Bill voted for them), and Shania Twain, she settled on Celine Dion's 'You & I'. You hear that? She chose a song written by (for) a French-Canadian for an Air Canada ad campaign. Let's all read into it. Or let's just enjoy Bill. (Please ignore the grammar. I'm writing about Hillary and Celine.)

Kevin Spacey impersonates Pacino, Walken and others
He's funnier than you think. He does a dead on Al Pacino and Jimmy Stewart (better than mine). It makes you forget all about Beyond the Sea... yeah, his Bobby Darin was good, but Bobby Darin was a dick.

Finally, the aforementioned fake iPhone video unboxing
