There was interesting story on This American Life a couple of weeks back with the theme of social-engineering. The first act was about these two friends who ended up homeless in their pursuit of writing. "Gregory Deloatch and Daniel Canada dreamed of being writers, but normal life—marriage, jobs, paying the rent—always got in the way. To pursue their dream, the two friends embarked on an unusual experiment."
