cock of the block

Anyone who knows me, or has met for a period greater than 30 minutes understands that I have a love for Uncle Bob that rivals only my affinity for the EA NHL franchise (93 - present). It was announced yesterday that the Takeovers, Bob Pollard and former GBV bass player Chris Slusarenko, will be releasing a new album entitled Bad Football. That's not the exciting bit as the Fading Captain averages what seems to be anywhere between 9 - 12 releases a year, however... they usually don't feature one STEPHEN MALKMUS. I know it feels like we've stepped into a time machine and gone back 13 years to the last golden days of what was once called without shame Indie Rock. I just can't believe that my adolescent idols, my pillars of rock, my Temples of Artemis, have joined forces even if it's only for one song. I thought this was going to be a dreadful day what with the horrible onslaught of diarrhea and heat exhaustion I've been suffering. Was I ever wrong. Never fear the Captain is near. The club is open.

The Takovers new album Bad Football sees the shelf on June 12 on behalf of Off Records

the takeovers myspace - they've got 4 songs for download and they're awesome (of course)

here are the 3 tracks from Off Records the 4th is on their myspace entitled I Can See My Dog
My Will
Molly and Zack
Father's Favorite Temperature
