the fork strikes thrice

I wasn't entirely sure what to make of Baltimore native Dan Deacon as I read the reviews last week for his new album Spiderman of the Rings. I had wondered what his brand of kaleidoscopic kindercore dance music would sound like after having been very disappointed with Of Montreal's recent output (damn you outback steakhouse), nevertheless there was something charmed/touched about Deacon that caused me to check my cynicism at the door. I'm pretty sure it was his receding hair-line, matching sweats, joyful belly, super un-sexy/unreal cool dance moves, and kick ass glasses that set my mind at ease. Spiderman of the Rings gives the impression that if 8 year olds could rave the world would be one awesome friendly hyper-kinetic party. Get me my hat, loot-bag, and McD's Orange drink, I feel like dancin'.

i danced when you played it for us in the car. i danced, whilst tethered, it was a restrictive, movementless dance. but i danced, like an 9 year old at an 8 year old's birthday party
